MTR Corporation said it received reports at about 9pm on October 23 of odours on a Tsuen Wan line train at Yau Ma Tei Station and a Tuen Ma line train at the station in To Kwa Wan. Some passengers reported mild discomfort.
A passenger’s social-media post described a pungent smell while she waited at Jordan Station, followed by smoke in the carriage after she boarded and passengers coughing.
MTR said staff boarded to check the trains and found no odour. They assisted the passengers concerned, who continued their journeys.
Its control centre arranged for the trains to return to a depot for inspection, and MTR reported the incident to police.
