A 54-year-old taxi driver, 李劍文, was sentenced to four months in prison and disqualified from driving for five years at Kwun Tong Magistrates’ Court after admitting to driving with ketamine in his system.
The case arose on June 5, 2026, when police stopped and investigated a taxi that was swaying as it travelled on Wai Yip Street in Ngau Tau Kok. They found that the driver’s body contained ketamine, also known as “K”.
李劍文 admitted the charge of driving a motor vehicle while his body contained any concentration of a specified drug. He represented himself at the hearing and had a previous criminal record for a similar case.
A relevant report did not recommend that he be admitted to a drug treatment centre. Acting Principal Magistrate Li Chi-ho said imprisonment was unavoidable. The court took his guilty plea into account when imposing the sentence.
