Police and the agriculture and fisheries department mounted a joint night operation to capture unattended dogs near Pok Wai South Road in Yuen Long, after Star Headline reported that a woman had died in what it described as a suspected dog attack. The operation ran from Sunday night, 20 September, into the early hours of Monday and was intended to protect public safety while assisting the police investigation.
Police officers involved in the operation carried shields and wore protective equipment, while department staff carried tranquiliser guns, i-CABLE News reported. Personnel were seen capturing dogs around the reported incident site on Sunday evening.
The agriculture and fisheries department said any captured dogs would be sent to an animal-management centre for detention and observation. If a dog had an implanted microchip, the department would contact its owner to assist the investigation.
The department said it had received four complaints about dog nuisances at nearby locations between June and August 2026. It carried out seven capture operations during that period but found no dogs.
