The Tourism Commission and Tourism Board say they will submit a revised proposal for the Peak lighting project to the Central and Western District Council next month for consultation. The planned installation is on the walking paths along Lugard Road and Harlech Road.
The announcement followed concerns about the project’s use of space, the natural environment and the walking experience. On October 23, 2026, the tourism commissioner, Tourism Board representatives and council members inspected the sites. Board representatives explained the project’s design and adjustments made in response to residents’ views and the surrounding environment.
During the visit, councillors suggested removing ground-level lights occupying public seating areas, reducing the number of lights in some locations, and changing their positions or installation methods.
The Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau said the Tourism Commission and Tourism Board would continue site visits with different councillors in the coming days and make immediate improvements where possible.
