Police used CCTV to track a man suspected of carrying a knife from Kai Yip Market onto a route 1A bus, then arrested him. Officers stopped the bus on Prince Edward Road East near Choi Hung Estate.
The report was made on October 7. A passer-by told police they had seen a man suspected of carrying a knife wandering in the market; he had left before officers arrived.
Police reviewed CCTV and traced the man to Mong Kok, where he had boarded a bus heading towards east Kowloon. He was arrested on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon and detained for investigation. Police said they found a knife about 32cm long in his shoulder bag.
