Lan Kwai Fong was packed on the evening of October 24, with the crowd spilling onto D'Aguilar Street as people gathered for early Halloween celebrations.

Police closed roads, directed pedestrians to move one way and reminded people not to stop in the crowd.

Two people interviewed by HK01 said they had to take a substantial detour and wait about one to two hours to enter Lan Kwai Fong.

The crowd came during Lan Kwai Fong’s scheduled Saturday Halloween events, which included street DJ costume parties and a monster parade on October 17, 24 and 31.

An employee at a nearby restaurant said foot traffic and business were stronger than at the same time last year. The employee estimated the day’s takings would be HK$10,000–20,000 higher.
