Five men were taken to a police station for questioning after a reported early-morning assault in Tsim Sha Tsui, as police investigated whether they were connected with the attack.
The victim was reported to have been attacked by several people using hard objects and glass bottles after spending time at a bar on Minden Avenue. He suffered injuries to his head and hands and was taken to hospital.
At about 6.30am, police stopped a private seven-seater vehicle on Tseung Kwan O Tunnel Road after spotting it near Kwun Tong Swimming Pool on Kwun Tong Road. Initial checks reportedly found no prohibited items in the vehicle.
