Police are seeking a local man aged about 40 to 50 after he allegedly paid with two suspected counterfeit HK$500 notes at a grocery shop at 2 Mei King Street, To Kwa Wan, and then left. No arrest had been made at the time of the report.

The incident was reported by the shop manager at about 3pm on August 16, 2026. Officers who attended the scene recovered the two suspected counterfeit notes.

The case has been classified as using counterfeit currency and is being handled by the fifth team of the Kowloon City district crime investigation unit. The authenticity of the notes, the man's identity and his whereabouts had not been confirmed in the report.
