Police said they seized about 32kg of suspected ketamine, estimated to be worth more than HK$12 million, at a Sha Tin public housing estate on October 16. The drugs were in 16 packages. Two 15-year-old girls and a 28-year-old man were arrested on suspicion of trafficking dangerous drugs.
Officers saw a man and a woman unpacking suspicious boxes, putting items into nylon bags and trying to move them into a flat, police said. A search of the flat led to the third arrest.
Police said the suspected ketamine was concealed among old clothes in cargo believed to have come from overseas. They alleged a drug syndicate had recruited the girls through financial inducements for front-line work, including receiving, unpacking and collecting drugs.
Police said the operation intercepted the batch before it entered the market. The three were in police custody and due to appear at Tuen Mun Magistrates’ Courts on October 19.
