Police said an operation in Yuen Long on October 17 led to the seizure of cocaine, ketamine and methamphetamine estimated to be worth more than HK$22 million.
Officers stopped a motorcyclist leaving a village house on Tai Shu Ha Road West and found about half a kilogram of ketamine beneath the seat. A search of the house turned up 25 packets of ketamine behind the living-room television, eight packets of cocaine in a bedroom wardrobe and a packet of methamphetamine. Officers also seized HK$15,000 suspected to be proceeds of crime, along with electronic scales, more than 100 clear plastic bags and a sealing machine. The couple’s two young children were also in the house during the search.
The rider, a 38-year-old man, and his 27-year-old wife were arrested on suspicion of drug trafficking. The couple were each charged with one count of trafficking dangerous drugs and were due at Tuen Mun Magistrates’ Courts on October 20. Ming Pao reported that the couple’s children were placed temporarily in the care of an agency.
