Police have arrested two men after seizing about 243kg of suspected cannabis flower from an industrial-building unit and related locations in Cheung Sha Wan, with an estimated market value of about HK$57 million.
Officers stopped a 41-year-old man outside the unit on the afternoon of 1 September 2026 and allegedly found about 44kg of suspected cannabis flower in a trolley. A subsequent search of the unit uncovered a further 199kg, according to reports.
The two men were reported to be aged 41 and 42, and both were reported to work in renovation. They were arrested in connection with the seizure.
Senior Inspector Tong King-pui said police believed the storage facility had been operating for only a few days. He said the operation had stopped a large quantity of drugs from reaching the local market.
An air freshener was found inside the unit. Police believe traffickers may have used different methods to mask the strong smell of cannabis, according to a Ming Pao report.
The case was scheduled to come before a magistrates’ court in West Kowloon on 4 September. The seized material remains described by police and the reports as suspected cannabis flower, while the precise charges were not stated consistently in the reports.
