A staff-introduction initiative begun in 2024 encourages healthcare workers to introduce themselves to patients. Staff are also given distinctive name badges to help patients and relatives recognise who is caring for them.

Princess Margaret Hospital reported that 68% of its healthcare staff were actively introducing themselves to patients at the time of the report.

The hospital used questionnaires before and after the initiative to survey about 11,000 patients or caregivers. Overall satisfaction increased, according to the reported results.

A frontline staff member told Star Headline about an older patient who was nervous about learning to inject insulin. After a nurse introduced themselves, the patient was willing to share their concerns, and their cooperation increased.
