A detached house at No. 18 To Fung Shan Road, Sha Tin, was suspected of being burgled on September 8 after a window was reportedly forced open and signs of searching were found inside. A safe was also reported missing.
Ming Pao reported that the safe contained jewellery and about HK$100,000 in cash. The homeowner or occupants were still assessing the losses, and the total value had not been confirmed.
Ming Pao said the incident was discovered or reported at about 8am, while Star Headline reported that police received the report at 8.51am. The reports did not clarify whether the times referred to the discovery and the subsequent police report.
Police attended the scene and classified the matter as a burglary investigation. Star Headline reported that officers searched the surrounding area for the suspected burglar but had not found anyone at the time of its report.
The investigation was continuing, with the occupants still assessing the full loss. It was not reported whether the safe had been recovered or whether any suspect had been identified or arrested.
