A 900-millimetre salt-water pipe burst at around 1pm on 15 October at the junction of Hung Hom Road and Bailey Street, causing the road to subside. Muddy water flooded the surface.

The rear wheel of a route 11X bus operated by The Kowloon Motor Bus Co. (1933) Ltd became trapped in the hole. The bus was towed away and passengers transferred to continue their journeys.

The Water Supplies Department sent staff to carry out emergency repairs. The Transport Department said the section of Bailey Street towards Ko Shan Road was closed to all traffic during the work.

Diversions affected cross-harbour route 115, routes 5D and 11X, and Citybus routes A25, E23, E23A and N23.
