A 29-year-old unemployed man has denied attempting unlawfully and maliciously to cause grievous bodily harm with intent after an alleged attack at a San Po Kong bus stop. The trial of Tse Chi-kong began in the District Court on September 7, 2026.
Prosecutors allege that the complainant took part in a table-tennis competition between about 8pm and 11pm while Tse watched. The two men did not know each other, according to the prosecution’s opening account.
After the competition, the complainant went to a bus stop at 638 Prince Edward Road East, San Po Kong, while Tse allegedly followed him. At about 11.40pm, after a bus had taken on and dropped off passengers and began moving away, prosecutors say Tse attacked the complainant, causing him to lose his balance and fall towards the roadway and bus.
The complainant was taken to hospital. One report said a medical examination found abrasions to his left upper jaw and right wrist, as well as tenderness in his right shoulder and left wrist. The supplied reports do not give his final medical outcome.
According to the prosecution, Tse was arrested on October 16, 2024, and told police during a cautioned video interview that he considered the complainant’s manner during the competition arrogant. Prosecutors say Tse told police that he had decided to attack the complainant in retaliation. Tse denies the charge.
The case was adjourned for continuation, and Tse was remanded in custody during the adjournment. The District Court has yet to reach a conclusion on the charge.
