A male scaffolding worker died after falling from the rooftop of a building undergoing scaffolding work on Yu Chau Street in Sham Shui Po on the morning of 11 September 2026. Reports placed the scene in the area of No. 228 or Nos. 228-230 Yu Chau Street and gave slightly different times for the incident.
The worker fell with a scaffold bracket and was found unconscious or seriously injured on a platform in a rear lane. Rescue personnel took him to Caritas Medical Centre, where he later died despite efforts to revive him.
Reports said he was wearing a safety harness. Star Headline reported that the harness was attached to the bracket and that the bracket suddenly came loose, causing him to fall with it.
The reports differed on the worker’s age, identifying him as either 50 or 54. They also gave different accounts of the exact address and the sequence in which emergency personnel reached him and took him to hospital.
Police classified the case as an industrial accident and were investigating the cause at the scene.
