A 10-year-old girl appeared in a circulating video struggling to carry two large bags of beer in Fu Tai Estate. The incident was reported to have taken place at about 7.30pm on 6 October. The footage showed her putting the beer down to rest before continuing along a residential walkway.
The girl reportedly said that her father would scold her, that she often helped carry beer and that she had not been physically abused by her parents. An adult man seen in the footage was believed to be her father.
The school said its social workers and teachers had intervened after learning of the video and were providing follow-up, counselling and support to the children and family. Police were investigating after a teacher reported the matter. Officers reportedly attended Ning Tai House in Fu Tai Estate.
It urged the public to stop sharing the footage and related information, and not to harass, pursue or follow the affected children or family, to protect their privacy and psychological wellbeing.
