The Water Supplies Department said flushing-water supply would be interrupted from 11pm on October 8 at six Kwai Fong locations: Hing Fong Road Playground, Hang King Garden, the Hang King shopping centre, a church named for St Stephen, a street market and Kiangsu-Chekiang College (Kwai Chung).
The pipe burst at about 10pm beside motorcycle parking on Wing Fong Road near Shing Fong Street. Police attended, confirmed it carried saltwater and notified the Water Supplies Department.
Muddy water spread across the road and around parked motorcycles, submerging their wheels before flowing into a roadside drain.
The department expected flushing-water supply to resume at 11pm on October 9.
