Police have charged a 32-year-old male officer with one count of misconduct in public office after he allegedly contacted a woman linked to a criminal case and sent her indecent messages and photographs. He has been suspended from duty. Reports said he was formerly attached to the Kwai Tsing district.
Police allege that the contact took place while the officer was investigating a criminal case in May 2025. The woman was a friend of a person arrested in that case. The allegations have not been tested in court and do not constitute a conviction.
The woman reported the matter to police on 12 May 2025. The officer’s name, rank and specific unit were not disclosed.
The New Territories South Regional Crime Unit arrested the man in Tuen Mun on 20 August 2026. He was then charged with misconduct in public office and suspended from duty.
He is due to appear at Sha Tin Magistrates’ Court on the morning of 28 August. No details were reported on bail arrangements or a plea.
Police said they attach importance to officers’ conduct and would not tolerate or excuse unlawful behaviour, adding that such matters would be handled seriously.
