Tai Po Baptist Public School began the 2026-27 academic year at its new campus in Fu Shin Estate on 1 September, bringing students and staff back together after pupils attended classes at two other primary schools in the district. The move replaces the school’s former premises in Wang Fuk Court.
The Wang Fuk Court campus was decommissioned after a fire. The Education Bureau identified a vacant campus in Fu Shin Estate for the school, and renovation work was completed before the new academic year began.
The school introduced measures to help pupils adjust to the relocation. The start of the school day was moved from 8:00am to 8:20am, while half-day classes were arranged for the first week. Primary One pupils were due to remain on half-day lessons for their first two weeks before gradually moving to full-day classes.
The principal told Ming Pao that the school had about 500 students and would pay particular attention to arrival and dismissal arrangements during the first two weeks to reduce disruption for Fu Shin Estate residents.
The renovated campus has an expanded climbing room and newly added soundproof rooms for dance and music practice. The school also designated areas where students could release stress and emotions, while retaining elements of the former campus to strengthen their sense of belonging.
An open day was held before the relocation to help pupils become familiar with the site. Students expressed excitement about reuniting with classmates and using the new facilities, although some also regretted leaving their former campus.
Parents gave differing accounts of the new journey. One said the commute was longer and required leaving home 15 minutes earlier because of congestion, while another said the Fu Shin Estate campus was a 15-minute walk from home and closer than the previous site.
The school’s phased timetable and closer monitoring of arrival and dismissal arrangements are intended to support the transition as students and staff settle into the reunited campus.
