The Water Supplies Department will shut a leaking 200-millimetre fresh-water main on On Po Road, Tai Po, at 11pm on August 26 for emergency repairs. The shutdown is expected to affect Tai Yuen Estate, Ting Nga Court and Tai Yuen Plaza.

The department scheduled the shutdown after the evening peak period and said it would provide two water wagons and 20 water tanks nearby. Its emergency water supply team would also deliver bottled water to users in need and elderly homes.

District councillor Wu Chok-him said the water wagons would be parked outside Block A of Tai Yi House and Block A of Tai Lok House, with water tanks arranged below each block.

i-CABLE News reported that residents of Tai Yuen Estate had brought buckets downstairs to collect water from tanks placed by the department.

The department said it aimed to complete the emergency repairs and restore supplies by noon on August 27, unless unusual engineering difficulties, such as bad weather, delayed the work. It was not immediately confirmed whether supplies had been restored.
