A woman rescued from the sea off Sam Mun Tsai in Tai Po regained consciousness in hospital.

At about noon on October 3, a passing boat operator found her in the water near Yu On Street and pulled her out. Early reports said she was unconscious when rescued, while a later account said she was conscious at that point and became unconscious while being taken to Sam Mun Tsai pier. She was taken ashore and transported by ambulance to Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital for treatment.

She was initially described as a 15-year-old girl. Ming Pao later reported that she was a 28-year-old woman and had regained consciousness after reaching hospital.

Police initially investigated her identity and how she entered the water. Ming Pao said officers believed she had got into difficulty while swimming and classified the case as a person feeling unwell.
