Tax waiver covers Wang Fuk Court owners, residents and people who died in the fire

The government gazetted a tax-exemption order on 9 October covering owners and residents of Wang Fuk Court, and people who died in the fire.

The waiver applies to the remaining tax payable for the 2024/25 tax year and tax for 2025/26. It includes both provisional and final tax.

The four categories covered are salaries tax, property tax, profits tax and personal assessment.

The Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau said the Chief Executive in Council made the order under the tax ordinance. It will be submitted to the Legislative Council on 14 October 2026.
