A taxi driver was trapped inside the vehicle and temporarily unconscious after it collided with a private car in Tsing Yi on August 18. Rescue personnel freed the driver, while reports differed on when the driver regained consciousness. Police were investigating the cause of the collision.

Police received a report at 10.06am, according to one report, while i-CABLE News said the crash occurred shortly after 10am. The collision took place at or near the junction of Ching Sum Street and Fung Shue Wo Road.

The taxi driver was taken to Princess Margaret Hospital for treatment. The private-car driver sustained a hand or finger injury, received treatment at the scene and was also taken to hospital.

The taxi’s right side and the front of the private car were damaged, and the taxi’s airbag deployed, i-CABLE News reported.

i-CABLE News reported that the taxi was travelling along Fung Shue Wo Road and making a U-turn near Ching Sum Street when it collided with the private car. Another report did not specify how the collision occurred, and police were investigating its cause.
