Tram services in both directions between Admiralty MTR Station and Tonnochy Road were suspended on September 1 after a power-supply fault. Eastbound services from Admiralty to Tonnochy Road and westbound services in the opposite direction were affected.
The Transport Department said it received notification from the tram company at 9.43pm. The tram company attributed the disruption to a fault in its power-supply system.
Ming Pao identified the affected operating points as Admiralty MTR Station stops 35E and 64W, Fleming Road stop 45E and Burrows Street stop 54W. Its report also used these stop references when describing the suspended section, while other reports described it as the route between Admiralty and Tonnochy Road.
The tram company said engineering personnel were working to repair the fault and hoped to restore service as soon as possible. No restoration time was reported.
Star Headline reported that the disruption came one day after another reported tram power fault. At 8.05pm on August 31, the Transport Department had announced a westbound suspension between North Point Terminus and Tin Lok Lane, the Happy Valley loop. The reports did not establish whether the two incidents were connected.
The latest reported position was that repairs were under way after the September 1 notification, with service restoration timing and the specific cause of the power-supply fault not given.
