The trial of 42-year-old Zhou Furong over alleged false representations to Hong Kong immigration authorities has been rescheduled to 2 November 2026 and is expected to last three days. Prosecutors allege the representations enabled her to obtain childbirth services at Union Hospital. The allegations have not been proved.

Zhou faces charges of conspiracy to defraud and conspiracy to obtain services by deception. The prosecution alleges that in 2018 she told the Immigration Department she was coming to Hong Kong to visit her spouse and claimed that a man was the biological father of her unborn child.

The defence had earlier objected to evidence from a reported key witness because the witness had allegedly been involved in a money-laundering case. Details of the alleged case were not given.

At a hearing at Sha Tin Magistrates’ Courts on 19 August 2026, the defence said it would not apply to terminate the proceedings after receiving documents from the prosecution.

The acting chief magistrate then listed the trial for 2 November 2026. Zhou remains on bail under conditions including HK$200,000.
