A taxi and an oncoming private vehicle collided near Wun Tau Kok in Tsuen Wan at about 1pm to 1.15pm on Aug. 27. The taxi was turning from Hoi An Road into Lai Chi Road when the crash occurred.

Both vehicles sustained substantial damage, including severe damage to their front sections. The injured people were taken to hospital for treatment.

The male taxi driver was injured and briefly lost consciousness after the collision. He regained consciousness after being taken to hospital, according to reports.

Published reports differed over who was injured. Star Headline reported four people — the taxi driver, two taxi passengers and the private-vehicle driver — while Ming Pao and i-CABLE reported three, identifying the two drivers and a girl. The vehicle was described variously as a private car and a seven-seater.

The cause of the collision had not been determined and remained under investigation in the supplied reports. The confirmed number of injured people and the circumstances of the occupants had not been established.
