The Electrical and Mechanical Services Department said door-frame components were missing from lifts replaced by TAIZOOM ELEVATOR COMPANY (HK) LIMITED, although the work had been reported complete. The department’s finding covered 48 lifts across Tsui Ping (North) Estate and Pok Hong Estate.
In a notice to residents, Tsui Ping (North) Estate’s owners’ corporation and management office said they had arranged for a team to inspect and assess all replaced lifts already in service at the estate within three days. Missing components were to be installed as soon as possible, with work arranged to start on 16 October.
The notice said replaced lifts must pass final acceptance and safety tests by the supervising consultant, SGS Hong Kong Limited, and the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department, and receive a permit before use. The department and SGS said they would do their best to carry out urgent inspections and acceptance checks on lifts whose replacement work was complete, and reissue permits, over the weekend and Chung Yeung holiday.
