A fire in a flat at Ching On House, Tsz Ching Estate, left a man with facial burns and led to the evacuation of about 250 residents early on October 13.
Police received reports of the fire at 5.44am. A caller reported seven people and three cats trapped in the flat. It was home to a family of four, and the injured man’s other family members were unharmed.
The injured resident was taken to hospital. Firefighters extinguished the blaze after 23 minutes. Police said their preliminary assessment was that an external power bank had overheated and caused the fire; the cause remained under investigation.
