MTR will bring forward the end of train services between Tung Chung Station and Sunny Bay to about 11pm on 28 November, roughly two hours earlier than usual, to make way for extension works.

Free shuttle buses will run between Tung Chung Station and Sunny Bay until the normal train-service closing time. Trains between Sunny Bay and the Hong Kong end of the line will continue operating normally, although passengers travelling between the two affected stations will need to allow time for the bus transfer.

The published last-train times include 11:02pm from Tung Chung towards the Hong Kong end, 11:07pm from the Hong Kong end towards Tung Chung, and 11:29pm from Sunny Bay towards Tung Chung.

The early closure will allow the third critical turnout installation for the Tung Chung Line extension to proceed. The wider works include laying new track so trains can eventually be diverted towards the planned eastern extension station. MTR says the installation is complex, must be completed without interruption and will be followed by testing before trains can run through the altered track.

Extra station staff and signs will be provided to help passengers. MTR expects normal service to resume from the next day’s first train, subject to unforeseen circumstances.
