Disciplinary hearings involving two fire-services installation contractors linked to the Wang Fuk Court fire have been postponed until further notice, the Fire Services Department said on 7 September. The hearings for Hong Tai Fire Engineering Company and China Development Engineering Company had been scheduled for 11 September 2026.
Hong Tai’s hearing was postponed after both sides applied for more time to prepare. The hearing involving China Development was delayed because the prosecution needed more time to handle the case, with no objection from the contractor, according to the department’s announcement.
The proceedings follow earlier evidence from hearings into the Wang Fuk Court fire. Ming Pao and i-CABLE reported that China Development had not attended the site during major renovation work and was alleged to have submitted a notice indicating that the fire-services installations had been shut down. The reports said the installations had therefore been out of operation for about seven months when the fire occurred.
