The Housing Bureau has reminded owners of blocks A to H at Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po that those accepting the government’s acquisition offer must sign and return the Letter of Acceptance by 5 p.m. on August 31, 2026. The reminder was issued on August 25.

Owners can return the signed letter by post, personal delivery or courier using the enclosed return envelope. They can also place it in a collection box at the Hong Kong Housing Authority headquarters in Ho Man Tin or submit it to a member of the team handling their case. Postal submissions will be judged by the postmark, and owners have been advised to post their letters before the service’s cut-off time on August 31 so they receive that date’s postmark.

The Housing Bureau said titles that remain unsold after the deadline will be handled through the market mechanism. It has also not ruled out legislative means to deal with flats that remain unsold, and warned that owners who fail to sell by the deadline will face risks.

RTHK reported that the acquisition price is about 30 per cent higher than pre-fire market valuations assessed by the Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors.

The government described the arrangements as being for a “special case of exceptional nature” and said they would not constitute a precedent.

For owners who have sold their titles, the government has reserved more than 4,400 flats across 10 Housing Authority and Housing Society developments. The ballot and flat-selection process under the Special Sales Exercise is scheduled to begin in September. Owners who have not yet signed a sale and purchase agreement may still take part in the ballot.
