Owners in blocks A to H of Wang Fuk Court who returned a completed and signed acceptance-of-acquisition letter by 31 August must sign the sale and purchase agreement for their flats by 15 October, the Housing Bureau says. The deadline applies regardless of which option they selected under the scheme.
The bureau may consider arrangements case by case where special circumstances prevent an owner from signing on time, including unresolved ownership or the need for more time to complete probate procedures. Secretary for Housing Winnie Ho said flexibility would also apply where an owner genuinely intended to complete the transaction but was prevented by circumstances beyond their control, such as suddenly becoming ill and being unable to sign documents in hospital.
The flexibility applies to owners who are still trying to complete the transaction. An owner who stops submitting documents or completing procedures, no longer intends to proceed or refuses to sign may have the acquisition terminated.
The replacement-unit selection process began on 29 September and is expected to finish in late November. An owner delayed by a qualifying circumstance may still be invited to choose a replacement unit if the agreement is completed before the selection period ends.
If ownership of the Wang Fuk Court flat has not yet transferred to the government, the replacement unit may initially be reserved. The Housing Authority or Hong Kong Housing Society will sign the purchase agreement or provisional purchase agreement only after that transfer. The Housing Bureau says it will notify owners before the deadline about special-case arrangements, while a team will contact them to explain the process and provide assistance.
