Emergency repairs to a leaking water main near Tuen Lee Street on Castle Peak Road in Tuen Mun have been completed, with fresh-water supplies beginning to return progressively from 7:30 a.m. on August 26, 2026, the Water Supplies Department said. The disruption affected Yee Fung Garden, Hin Fat Estate, Hang Shun Garden and Crown Garden.
The leakage occurred on the morning of August 25 and temporarily interrupted supplies to the four housing estates. The department arranged two water wagons and more than 30 water tanks while supplies were suspended. Ming Pao also reported that more than 10 temporary water points had been set up near the affected estates.
Ming Pao reported that internal storage tanks in the affected buildings provided some buffer during the outage, and that only a small number of households needed to collect water from the temporary supply points.
The same road section had experienced three water-main leaks within one week earlier in August, according to Ming Pao, which reported that another leak occurred there on the morning of August 25. The reports did not state what caused the repeated leaks.
Some traffic lanes beside the repair site on Tuen Lee Street remained closed after the repair work, i-CABLE reported. The duration of the closure was not given.
The Water Supplies Department said it would closely monitor the pipe and promptly begin related improvement works to reduce future leakage and the impact on residents. The department did not provide details of the planned works or a timetable for their completion in the reports.
