The West Kowloon Regional Traffic Division arrested six men on suspicion of drink-driving and detained nine vehicles during a three-day enforcement operation from 4 to 6 September 2026. The operation targeted road offences including drink-driving, drug-driving, illegal racing, speeding and suspected illegal vehicle modifications.
The arrested men comprised five local men and one non-Chinese man, aged between 30 and 49. Police also issued warnings to 11 people whose breath samples contained alcohol but did not exceed the legal limit. The reports did not say whether the six men were subsequently charged, released on bail or brought to court.
The nine detained vehicles comprised five motorcycles, two private cars and two goods vehicles. They were suspected of having illegal modifications or failing to meet legal requirements.
Preliminary checks indicated suspected problems including modified exhaust pipes, excessive vehicle height and cracked windscreens. The vehicles were taken to the Kowloon Bay Vehicle Detention and Examination Centre for further examination.
Police used unmarked vehicles to patrol major roads including Tai Po Road, Lung Cheung Road, Ching Cheung Road, West Kowloon Highway and West Kowloon Corridor, with a focus on illegal racing and speeding. Although drug-driving was among the operation’s targets, the reported arrests all involved suspected drink-driving and no drug-driving arrest was reported.
The nine vehicles remained at the Kowloon Bay centre pending further examination. The reports did not provide the inspection results or say whether prosecutions would follow, and gave no further information about the subsequent status of the arrested men.
