Tram services were disrupted by a power fault at about 6pm on 31 August, with more than 10 trams queuing in the Causeway Bay area. Some passengers got off and switched to other forms of transport as tram company engineering staff attended the scene to carry out repairs.

Westbound services between North Point Terminus and Tin Lok Lane in the Happy Valley circuit remained suspended at 8pm and again at 8.05pm, according to transport authorities and tram service information.

Eastbound services between Percival Street and North Point Terminus had resumed by 8pm.

Shek Tong Tsui Terminus was temporarily closed for emergency repairs. Passengers could consider travelling to Hill Road stop to take an eastbound tram.

No timetable was given for the full restoration of westbound services or the reopening of Shek Tong Tsui Terminus. The precise location and cause of the power fault were also not specified.
