A 43-year-old man died after going into shock during an endoscopy at Precision Spec – Surgery & Endoscopy Centre in Tsim Sha Tsui in 2021. He was taken to hospital for resuscitation and later died.
The inquest opened on 22 October 2026. His widow questioned whether the clinic had monitored his vital signs in time and whether the doctor responsible for the procedure acted promptly to resuscitate him.
She also questioned whether the clinic held a valid licence and whether the doctor followed guidance on administering the anaesthetic. i-CABLE News reported that the centre held only a provisional licence and that a licence was required for endoscopy and anaesthesia procedures.
The hearing was expected to last seven days, with 12 witnesses to be called.
