A wild boar about one metre long was seen near a snack kiosk in Victoria Park on the morning of October 22. Morning exercisers alerted police.

Police attended, and Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department staff arrived at around 9am to handle the animal. Staff used a net to confine it to a smaller area before a department veterinarian fired a tranquiliser dart.

The boar had been causing a disturbance for more than three hours by the time it was captured. It was carried to a van and taken away.
