A woman in her 60s was bitten by a green bamboo snake while walking near Wang Tau Hom Estate in Wong Tai Sin at about 8pm on August 18, 2026. She was taken by ambulance to Queen Elizabeth Hospital for treatment.

The injury was to her right foot, with one report specifying a toe. Star Headline reported that she was conscious before being taken to hospital.

After the incident was reported, estate security staff covered the snake with a container while assistance was arranged.

A snake catcher was notified and later captured the reptile, placing it in a plastic bag for removal. The reports identified it as a green bamboo snake, which one source described as a commonly found venomous snake in Hong Kong.

The reports differ on the exact building, the type of container used to restrain the snake and its estimated length. One put the snake at about one metre, while the other estimated it at about 20 centimetres. They also give different accounts of how residents, police and the snake catcher were notified.

No further information was provided on the woman’s medical condition or treatment outcome after she arrived at Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
