A woman rescued unconscious from the sea off Sheung Wan later died in hospital. Fireboat personnel pulled her from the water and she was taken by ambulance to Ruttonjee Hospital for resuscitation.

At about 2am on 14 October, a passer-by alerted police to what appeared to be a human-shaped object floating about 30 metres offshore from a car park on Rumsey Street. The woman was taken first to Central Fireboat Station at Central Government Pier.

Police said no suicide note was found at the scene. The cause of death is to be determined after an autopsy.
