A 71-year-old woman died after a reported two-car collision in Wan Chai, and police have charged a 30-year-old driver with dangerous driving. She was certified dead at 5.35pm on 1 January, and the case has been adjourned until 17 August 2026.
Police received a report at 8.06pm on 25 December that two private cars were involved in a reported collision at the junction of the eastbound and southbound carriageways of Morrison Hill Road. One car was driven by a 74-year-old man and carried the woman, while the other was driven by the 30-year-old man.
No one at the scene reported being injured. The woman later reported feeling unwell and sought medical attention herself before being taken to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital for treatment. She was certified dead there on 1 January.
Police arrested the 30-year-old driver after an investigation and charged him with one count of dangerous driving. He was reported to be an off-duty police officer attached to the Airport Police District.
The case will return to court on 17 August 2026.
