A woman was injured when part of a concrete ceiling and a suspended ceiling collapsed inside a bakery on the ground floor of 14 Shuang Fung Street, Wong Tai Sin, on the morning of 28 August 2026. She was struck by falling debris and taken to hospital for treatment.
The section of concrete that fell covered an area of about 4 metres by 3 metres and brought down part of the suspended ceiling with it.
The injured customer was reported to have remained conscious. Reports differed on her age, describing her as either in her 20s or 26, and on the injuries, which were variously reported as affecting her head and limbs, her hand and forehead, or her hands and feet. One report said she was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
Concrete blocks and fragments were scattered across the shop floor, while part of the suspended ceiling was left hanging. Some bread and mooncake packaging inside the bakery was also covered with concrete debris.
Police cordoned off the shop or scene for investigation after the incident. The Buildings Department was notified and sent staff to inspect whether the structure was stable. The reports did not establish the cause of the collapse, the woman’s final condition or whether the shop would need to close or take other safety measures.
