A 71-year-old woman identified in media and industry reports as advertising executive and creative leader Lun Kit-ying was found unconscious after apparently drowning at the Lai Fung Garden swimming pool in Fo Tan on August 31. A lifeguard rescued her and emergency personnel took her to Prince of Wales Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
Police received the report shortly after 5pm at the pool of the estate at 2–4 Lai Wo Lane. The woman was a resident of Lai Fung Garden, according to the police account reported by Ming Pao.
The reports identified the deceased as Lun, also known as Kitty Lun, but the supplied accounts did not say that police had officially confirmed her identity. Star Headline described her as a former head of Meta’s Greater China creative team.
Police classified the case as a death after the woman was conveyed to hospital and said the cause of death would be determined after an autopsy. No confirmed medical cause has been reported.
Lia Chinese Creativity published a condolence message describing Lun as a Hong Kong advertising creative leader who produced memorable work over several decades. It said she had supported the LIA Chinese Creativity Awards and had served as a judge.
Star Headline reported that colleagues mourned Lun and credited her with helping and mentoring younger creative professionals over many years. The report described her as the “mother of public-service advertising” and attributed works including “Life Has No Take 2” and “Hong Kong Wins with ICAC” to her.
The cause of death remains unresolved while the autopsy is pending. Further conclusions will depend on the examination and any subsequent police findings.
