A 31-year-old woman told police she suspected a steel ball had hit a finger on her left hand as she walked along a riverside path near Wan Tau Tong Estate in Tai Po on October 11. She was conscious when taken to Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital for treatment.
Police received the report at about 5.45pm and found a steel ball measuring 0.8 centimetres on a slope near Wan Tau Tong Sitting-out Area. Police classified the case as ordinary assault; no one had been arrested at the time of the reports.
A resident told HK01 he often saw two or three children nearby playing with toy guns. He said he did not feel able to intervene when adults were present, and asked the estate management office to send staff on more patrols and discourage children from shooting at people.
