The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region issued a yellow outbound travel alert for France on October 20, advising residents to avoid demonstration areas unless travel was necessary. WWPKG said it had cancelled two Western Europe tours scheduled for the following week, involving 30 people. The itineraries included France.

Separately, on October 17, a 10-person tour group in Paris encountered demonstrations while travelling by vehicle to a large department store. No one got out, and a police car led the group away from the area. The company operating the tour said the demonstration had not affected travellers’ safety.

Another travel company said its 21-person group in Paris had not been affected. WWPKG said it would decide later whether to cancel tours departing for France after November 1.
