A 21-year-old man surnamed Yao was found dead on a platform at Kwong Ching House in Kwong Tin Estate, Lam Tin, after his sister reported that she could no longer contact him.
Police received the report at about 11pm on September 18 and searched the building with rescue personnel. They found Yao during the search, and ambulance personnel examined him and certified him dead at the scene.
Police said their preliminary investigation indicated that Yao had fallen from the rooftop. They also said no suicide note had been found. The case was handled as a person falling from a height, while the cause of death remained pending an autopsy.
