67-year-old woman dies after rescue from sea below Ting Kau Bridge

A 67-year-old woman died after being rescued unconscious from the sea below Ting Kau Bridge and taken to hospital.

Around midnight on 22 September, Tsing Ma Control Area staff found a private car stopped on the Kowloon-bound shoulder. The vehicle was empty, and the staff suspected that its driver had fallen from the bridge before calling police.

Police, water police and fire-service personnel searched the sea below the bridge. They found a woman unconscious and took her ashore at a Tsuen Wan pier, where she was transferred by ambulance to Yan Chai Hospital for emergency treatment.

Ming Pao reported that police found no suicide note at the scene. The cause of death was pending an autopsy.
