An 89-year-old woman was reported to have died after she was found unconscious in the sea while swimming early in the morning near Approach Beach in Tsuen Wan.
Other swimmers noticed that she had not returned to shore and saw her floating in the water before calling for help, according to HK01.
Firefighters attended and rescued the woman while she was unconscious. Ambulance staff performed emergency treatment before taking her to Yan Chai Hospital, where she was later reported to have died.
HK01 reported that she lived near the beach and had gone there for early-morning swims almost daily for about 20 years, usually swimming for around an hour. Star Headline reported that police were investigating the incident.
