At least 11 of the 28 lifts in Queen Mary Hospital’s Clinical Block 1 were operating on 2 November, an on-site count up from the four lifts previously reported to be usable.

Eight lifts were working in one lobby and three of six in the other. Staff at those three lifts helped passengers press floor buttons, although some passengers operated the buttons themselves.

Repairs were still under way elsewhere. Work areas were screened by steel doors and barriers, with workers seen moving in and out. In September, the Secretary for Development said she was confident the work would be completed in the fourth quarter of 2026.

At the 25th floor, workers were seen moving steel plates and working in a lift shaft; one lift there had not yet been fitted with a door frame.
