A black Audi private car overturned after striking multiple water-filled traffic barriers on Long Tin Road in Tin Shui Wai on the morning of August 26, 2026, prompting an emergency response. The crash was reported at about 8.31am, as the car was travelling towards Wetland Park.

Police and firefighters found no one inside the vehicle when they arrived, and neither the driver nor any passenger was found at the scene. Reports differed on the driver’s status: Star Headline said the person’s whereabouts were unknown, while Ming Pao reported that the driver had left the vehicle and fled. This had not been resolved in the reports.

The road section originally had three lanes, with the middle lane closed by water-filled barriers, according to Ming Pao. Footage was reported to suggest that the car may have been travelling in the closed lane and changed lanes too late, while another account described a suspected loss of control. Neither explanation had been confirmed.

The car was reported to have rolled or spun after hitting the barriers before overturning. Star Headline said it rolled several times and came to rest upside down, while Ming Pao described it as overturning onto the barriers. Passing motorists raised the alarm after seeing the crash and were concerned that someone might be trapped.

The case was being treated as a traffic accident, and police were investigating both the cause of the crash and the driver’s whereabouts. The investigation was being handled by Team 3 of the Traffic Enforcement and Control Division of the New Territories North Regional Command.
